Colliery Fatality at Lydbrook

Mr. M. F. Carter, Coroner for the Forest of Dean Division of the county, has received notice of the death, which occurred on Monday, of Milson Aston (54), collier, residing at The Pludds, near Lydbrook. Deceased was at his work at the New Pit at Lydbrook on the 29th, and worked through the night shift. Early next morning deceased was engaged barring down a loose rock, in company with a man named Samuel Lloyd, when a large piece of rock fell off the side, and striking deceased, knocked him down, severely injuring him. Deceased was removed to his home, and Dr. Lacey, of Ruardean, attended him, but he expired during the course of the afternoon.
